SUBMIT YOUR WORK | ||||||||||||||||
|
Please, please, please use the name that you are archived under if you submit more work, otherwise you'll likely get filed as a different order. If you are archived as Fred Bloggs, then you need to submit as Fred Bloggs - if you submit as Fred, then you'll get archived under the author who goes by Fred in the archives. Using different names just confuses everyone and leads to mistakes that can take a very long time to get caught. IMPORTANT: If you are new to submitting to Twilight Tales, please be sure to read the following guidelines before clicking on the links above to get to the forms. A couple of minutes taken to read them will make the process much smoother for both of us, and reduce the chances of your work being sent back to you. I will only archive L.J. Smith fanwork on Twilight Tales - it's what people visit the site for. If it isn't based on LJS's work, don't submit it. You must provide an email address. If you don't, and something goes screwy, I can't get in touch with you. I do not give feedback, so please don't ask me what I think of your work. Firstly, I don't have the time to read all fics carefully and critique them, and not all of the fics are my cup of tea anyway. Secondly, I can be brutal with my feedbacking. I will be honest, and a lot of people don't really want honest feedback, they want to be told how great their writing is - truthful feedback hurts them, and some people even get nasty about it. If you want feedback, send your fic to the list, post it to the LJ, or request some honest, brutal critiquing in the feedback section of the forums. All links can be found in the menu to the left.
All work submitted must be complete. I do not accept works in progress. Stories without paragraph breaks will be rejected. It will be required now that you tick a box to say you've included paragraph breaks. If this box is not ticked, then the submission isn't sent. If you tick it to say you have paragraph breaks when you don't have them, I will promptly delete the fic. This may sound harsh, but I've had a lot of problems with people ignoring this rule. Be sure to check your stories for spelling and grammatical mistakes. I'm not going to make any corrections, it's down to you. Many people won't read a fanfic with appalling spelling and grammar. Stories must be rated:
Formatting made in word processors (eg Microsoft Word) such as bold and italics will be lost. I archive in plain text, so you'll need to use symbols to replace them. For example *bold*, /italics/, [telepathy]. There is an 'upload' option on the form for sending me a text file, or word doc, or other such file instead of posting the whole thing into the form. This is probably a better option for people with longer fics.

Ideally, you should post your fic into the body of an email. However, I will accept Microsoft Word files (*.doc), rich text files (*.rtf) and text files (*.txt) sent in an attachment. I do not accept any other word processing files. If you use a word processor other than Word (for example, you might be using Mac software), save the file as a *.txt file.
No huge rules for poetry. You just need to remember to include what series the poem is based on, and to provide a short sentence of how it relates to LJS comment section. It might not be obvious to everyone that your poem is about Julian's love for Jenny. ;)
Title:
PLEASE no photographs or images of people you THINK look like LJS characters that you've found on the net. It has to be your own work. I will accept the artistic use of photographs in you work (for example, Sandra's Vampire Diaries piece), but don't be offended if I turn you down. There's a difference between using photographic images artistically, and tweaking an image to give the person green eyes so they look more like Stefan. Also, where possible, please credit the original photographers. I also won't accept images made with dollmaker scripts. Yes, some of them are very cool, and you can spend a long time perfecting your doll, but technically, it's not your own work, it's someone else's art that makes up your doll. Any that are in the archive from before dolls became popular (so I won't have picked up on them) can stay there, but please, don't submit dolls. If you want to make them and show them somewhere, join LiveJournal and post to LJSque, a community that was set up for exactly this kind of thing. Images must be in either jpg, gif or png format. If you cannot submit with those, then bmp files are acceptable. Please be sure to send an image with as small a file size as possible, without impairing the image. Files shouldn't be over 1mb in size, and should really be under 500k. There is an 'upload' option on the form for sending me the image files from your computer rather than having to upload them to the internet, or send a seperate email.

If you've spotted mistakes in your fanfic, it's very simple to correct. You can either resubmit the whole fic, and I will replace the old file with the new one, or you can send me the new chapter to replace the old chapter with. If you'd like to re-write the entire fic, that's not a problem - I'll replace the old version with the new version if you ask me to. If you'd like your fic removed, that's okay - just email me with your author name and the fic title from an email address you use in the archive. This is so random people can't ask me to remove fanfic that doesn't belong to them, so it's a good idea to keep your email address on the archive up to date. | |||||||||||||||||
